silenT space
project
This architectural project creates an isolated and relaxing space to disconnect people from the busy and overly connected urban life.
Situated outside of the city in the Nordic countries, this pavilion is made of mineral stones, natural wood and marble as a grip towards our ancient essentialist life. Purity.
Inspired by the Wabi-Sabi Japanese aesthetical tradition, the surfaces are subject to change, decay, wear offering us a testimony of the passage of time and unperfection. The beauty resides in the contemplation of the natural surroundings. Nothing disturbs the tranquility of the place, an opened and simple architecture where we feel an invisible presence. Silence.

PaviLion - Research phase 1

Rhino 3D Modelisation
Calming sensory experience
This silicone air-actuated object is located at the heart of the rocky garden inside the pavilion.
What happens?
The nonlinear "breathing" of the pink silicone is based on the concept of Irony in the music of Prokofiev. An oscillating climate between drama and joy.
Brutal changes in rhythm and light
Fragmented, jerky movements -- Smooth inflation, tamed lighting
A metaphor of human frailty. A "joyful despair" (Eichendorff) when the rain joins our tears but refreshes our heart.
The user Emotional Experience
Unable to anticipate the movement of this lighted silicone object, the user naturally strengthens its attention and models its own inner rhythm on it.
The irregularity and the particularly slow pace offers the user to focus its consciousness on its inner feelings, finally putting aside the overwhelming stress of the daily life.
